The Uganda project

The Uganda projectUganda is home to more than seven million people living in poverty. These individuals lack access to clean water, good daily meals, and health care.
Educational opportunities are also very limited and there is a lack of options for those living in poverty to improve their current life situations. At the present time, there is no formalized massage therapy training in Uganda.
With growing tourism and agricultural industries, however, the economy is strong enough to support this field of work.

Your donation will help individuals in Uganda improve their standard of living and quality of life. We are proud to say that the program costs are minimal as curriculum developement and administration are done by volunteers.

The massage school is located in a hospital in the town of Ggaba, the space has been provided at minimal charge, books are being donated and teachers are volunteering their time for lesson planning, curriculum development. Your donation will be used to cover costs related to the initial set-up of the massage school and capital expenses such as massage tables for training, a chalk board, laptop and projector, table dividers, massage sheets and supplies. Monthly operating expenses include massage oil, stationary, cleaning supplies, laundry services, internet connection for the students, and student transportation.

The desire is also to have funds available to assist graduates in covering their initial start-up costs including massage tables and supplies, and provide long term teachers with a basic monthly living allowance.

To further support African Touch's vision of creating freedom through employment, locals will be employed to build the massage tables, provide laundry services and prepare meals for students.

We will be photo documenting the program and posting stories of students on our website so please return for updates to follow our progress and see the wonderful change you are contributing to.
