Class has started.

It has been a fantastic and eventful time. The bumps in the road have smoothedout and the school has turned out extremely well. We are very pleased to announcethat the African Touch Therapeutic Massage Class of 2011 officially commenced on July 4th. We ended up getting more than enough applicants after our vamped-up promotion efforts and only had to extend our deadline by a week. The quality of many of those applying was also very high. The interviews and english proficiency tests were completed, students were selected and we have a great class.

The class consists of twelve students, nine female and three male, and each individual brings valuable skillsand experience to the classroom. Classes occur from 9.00 AM to 2.45 PM, Monday to Friday.

The classroom set-up in the tent is also working very well. We have had a shelving unit constructed to allow students to easily access the many "library" of books we carried over. There has been much appreciation expressed for these resources, as good text-books can be difficult to gain access to in Uganda. We also have a white board for illustration and many learning tools such as charts, posters and anatomical skeletons.

The progress that each student has made since classes started is astounding. It has been less than 2 weeks and we are two - three days ahead of schedule. The students can name each bone in the body, as well as each bones bump and cracks individual names (In anatomy every bony bump line and crack has a name). We have started withhands on training and the class is very excited. A newsletter will be posted early next week with an introduction to each student written by the students themselves (to receivethis newsletter just sign up on the website).

Once again we would like to thank each ofyou for all your help and support to launch this project, without all of you this would notbe possible.

Thank you from the African Touch and the class of 2011.
