Welcome! The African Touch provides formal education and encourages self sufficiency amongst the disadvantaged population of Africa.
Our objective is to provide low cost professional training in Therapeutic Massage. Candidates for training are women and youth selected from the visually impaired community and residential slums.
We work in cooperation with Non Governmental Organizations to focus on small business development and capacity for disadvantaged individuals.
Health Module ProjectCurrent
The African Touch is pleased to be working on a collaboration with the Kenya Performing Arts Group (Kpag). Kpag members and blind students will learn about HIV/AIDS and receive training in massage therapy. For three months they will tour in areas of the country in most need of education about this epidemic, using dance, song, theatre, and massage to inform the rural impoverished public and treat people living with HIV/AIDS.
The Zanzibar Project
The African Touch provided an intensive course to train local massage therapists to work in a private spa in Stonetown, Zanzibar. This project was implemented with the assistance of the Hands Across Borders Society and the UWZ, a local association working for the needs of the disabled. Please see additional information in our Zanzibar newsletter.
