Current news - The African Touch - Massage Academy Project

The development and progress of The African Touch has to date been entirely due to volunteer efforts. It has been a compilation of time, services, and expertise which have brought this project to its current success. I would like to personally thank and acknowledge the individuals who share the vision, encourage our growth, and inspire our dreams.

RMT Study Group

Between August and November, 2005, 12 British Columbia Registered Massage Therapists participated in a study project to create an outline of the curriculum to be used in the four-month Massage Academy training program in Nairobi, Kenya .

The group detailed the degree to which human health sciences would be taught, and determined the most common pathologies that could be effectively treated by graduates of the Academy (AT MAP). The curriculum project also discussed the scope of practice of the graduates, and the title by which they would be known. This study group was approved for continuing education credits with our provincial governing body, The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia.

I would personally like to thank each study group member (listed below) for their contribution to developing The African Touch Massage Academy Project.

Yvonne B. Poulin ,  R.M.T.

Study group facilitators:  Yvonne Poulin and Peggy Bereza.
Study group members:  Christine Brunner, Nicola Campbell, Janna Danielsen, Dana Ellis, Vanessa Lund, Shandria Phillips, Renata Ruzzier, Brook Sanderson, Troy Smaill, and Lucinda Tait.
