The African Touch is a community based organization in the Sarangombe district of Kibera, the world's largest slum situated in Nairobi, Kenya.
The African Touch Education Fund Society is our Canadian registered non-profit society which facilitates North American fundraising for the African Touch. Our board members bring a wealth of skills and experience to our team ranging from accounting, business administration, computer technology, website design, counselling, teaching, physical therapy, theatre, dance, and film production. Together we are working to fulfill the objectives of The African Touch.
Biographies of the African Touch Board
Yvonne
is the founder of The African Touch. She is a Canadian Registered
Massage Therapist who began her work as an independent humanitarian
in 2002. She has used her massage therapy in volunteer practical
work and training in Mexico, Zanzibar, and Kenya. Her dream is to
help those who may never have the opportunity or access to formal
education.
"I simply want to do something to make a positive difference in this crazy world! The massage academy project is my something".
Joe is the founder of the Fountains of Living Waters Foundation, established in 2001 which is an inner city youth group Nairobi, Kenya. His background and training includes Information Technology, website design, and counselling. He is currently studying in Eldoret, Kenya at a learning center of Lee University, USA. His goal is to obtain a degree in psychology and apply that education to establish youth centers in rural Kenya.
Evans graduated with a degree in Economics. He is a humanitarian at heart, and is now training in a counselling program ministering to the ill. His passion is acting, and devotes much of his free time to theatre and television performances.
Biographies of the African Touch Educational Fund Society
Yvonne is the president of the African Touch Education Fund Society in Canada as well as the Chief Executive Officer of The African Touch in Kenya. She is working to coordinate the efforts between countries and to develop and implement the Massage Academy Project in Eastern Africa.
Peggy is in private practice as a Canadian Registered Massage Therapist and is the current president of the College of Massage Therapists of BC, the professions regulatory body. She is eager to assist The African Touch by sharing her expertise as previous Director of Education at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria BC as well as her professional experience as an examiner and author of the provincial licensing examinations.
Kristi Falconer is a Sign Language Interpreter working in Victoria BC Canada. A true humanitarian at heart, she devotes herself to improving the quality of life for the people she met and worked with in a small village in Zanzibar, East Africa. She has established and funds numerous projects in the village that bring health, education, awareness, access and opportunity to the deaf and hard of hearing in the community. She is excited to support and be an executive board member of The African Touch Education Fund Society.
